Parish and Parish Council news……

As part of our efforts to improve driver awareness and limit excess speeds through our villages, the Parish Council has now installed a Speed Indicator Device (SID). Our Annual Parish Meeting will be held on Thursday 14 March from 6.30pm at the Glebe Hall. Come along to find out more and have your say. Refreshments available, and displays from village groups. The Glebe Hall AGM will be held at the Glebe Hall on Thursday 28th March 7.30pm, all welcome.

Volunteering……

The Bourne Valley Link Scheme would welcome more volunteers.  If you can spare even an hour or two per month please call the Coordinator on 01980 611117 for more information.

Community Days. We meet in the Amenity Car Park (next to Winterbourne Arms) at 9am on March 23rd, April 20th  and May 25th.  Finish at 12 noon.  Litter picking, clearing footpaths, cleaning bus shelters, etc.  Equipment provided and all ages welcome.  Contact Nikki Palmer on 07813 856159 or npalmer-parishcouncil@thewinterbournes.org.uk

Drop in Café: 6th and 20th March, 3rd and 17th April, 1st, 15th and 29th May. 2pm to 4.30pm. Winterbourne Glebe Hall. No charge but donations welcomed.

Bourne Valley Horticultural Society. 7th March 7.30pm Winterbourne Glebe Hall. Beautiful birds and wildlife in your gardens by Simon Tucker. Bourne Valley Singers. This small a Capella choir has a wide repertoire, singing an eclectic mix of songs from early music to the present day. The choir meets on Wednesday evenings at 7pm in the Methodist church in Winterbourne. We welcome new members. Contact igauld2011@btinternet.com

Club Friday provides a weekly day centre held on Fridays in Idmiston/Porton Village Hall for the retired. Volunteers can provide transport and the Club is suitable for those who are fairly mobile and do not require personal care. The day includes coffee on arrival and a morning & afternoon entertainment and a two course hot lunch. Jumble Sale. Saturday March 9th, from 2pm Winterbourne Glebe Hall.

Newbourne Players. ‘What did I do at School Today’ by John Mee 9th, 10th, 11th May 2024 at the Winterbourne Glebe Hall. Containing mild adult humour, target audience is broad-minded grown-ups out for fun (suggested age 16+). Tickets £10. Contact Yvonne on 07730 603812 or thenewbourneplayers@gmail.com

2nd Winterbourne Brownies meet Mondays in the Glebe hall, for girls 7 to 10 years. Contact Snowy Owl on 01980611376 for information also go to www.girlguiding.org.uk to register your daughter. We are having an Easter Fayre on Monday 18th March from 6.30-8 pm. All welcome.

Winterbourne Cricket Club.  Adult, Youth and Junior cricket at the Portway ground in 2024. The action starts in early May with a full Hampshire League programme every Saturday to the end of August. Coaching for youngsters starts on Thursday evenings from mid-May, with youth matches on Friday evening and Sundays. We welcome new members – old & young, as well as spectators to our pavilion and bar.
