News and Events in the Winterbournes

Winterbourne Parish Council: Next meeting Thursday, 27th November at 7.30pm in the Ron Burton Room of Winterbourne Glebe Hall. Then 18th December and 22nd January 2026. Parishioners are very welcome to attend, if you have something specific to discuss, please notify clerk 10 days in advance of meeting date. Two vacancies on the Parish Council, if you are interested in this role or have any concerns or something to report please contact the Parish Clerk on 07427 406943 or clerk-parishcouncil@thewinterbournes.org.uk.


Community Days: Take place on a Saturday morning, meeting up at the village playground at 9am. All ages welcome. Our next one is on 22nd November, we do not hold one in December. The first one of 2026 will be on 24th January. If you are interested in helping please contact Nikki Palmer at npalmer-parishcouncil@winterbournes.org.uk.


Drop in Café: October 29th, November 12th, 26th 2pm to 4.30pm. Xmas Café December 10th with School Choir & Singers 1.30pm start at Winterbourne Glebe Hall. No charge but donations welcomed. Free IT advice available – bring your phone, ipad or laptop.


Bourne Valley Link SchemeSaturday 8th November 2.30pm Pewsey Players plus tea/coffee and cakes. No charge if booked by 31st October through the Coordinator on 01980611117 or £5 on the day. Saturday 22nd November Xmas Bazaar 10.30pm – 12. Free mulled wine & mince pies. Xmas wreaths and gift stalls. Xmas Closure: 5pm on Friday 19th December until 9am on Monday 5th January.

Bourne Valley Horticultural & Gardening Club: 6th November The Asian Hornet”. 4th December Mulled wine, mince pies and Xmas themed demonstration. 17th January Social Supper. Book with pambilltaylor@gmail.com. All meetings in Glebe Hall 7.30pm.


Bourne Valley Historical Society: November 20th John Inman, “This place in which we are now met”. An entertaining insider’s view of civil marriages. No meeting in December. REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY 9th November Come to our 10.45am Service at St Michael & All Angels, Winterbourne Earls marking the 80th anniversary of the end of WWII. Please arrive early, as the Service is usually very well attended. For more information, contact Rev’d Peter Ostli-East revpeterbvt@gmail.com

UNITED CAROL SERVICE 6.00pm Sunday 14th December in St Michael & All Angels, Winterbourne Earls. All welcome. CHRISTMAS EVE: 4.00pm Crib Service at St Mary’s, Winterbourne Gunner. At 6.00pm CHRISTINGLE in St Michael & All Angels, supporting the Children’s Society. CHRISTMAS DAY Holy Communion at 9.30am at St Mary’s and 10.45am at St Michael & All Angels.

Club Friday: The welcoming Day Centre held every Friday in Idmiston Memorial Hall, Porton from 10am to 2.30pm. Coffee/tea, home-made hot lunch, chat and laughter. Bourne Valley Scout Group: The Group will once again be taking part in the District Scout Christmas Postal Service. Cards can be sent all over the Salisbury District for the bargain price of 40p each. Locations of Stamp outlets, Posting Boxes and areas covered by the service can be found at https://sswscouts.org.uk/. Last day of Posting will be 3rd December. The local outlet is 3, The Cottages, Main Rd, Winterbourne, Gunner, SP4 6EF.

The Newbourne Players: Ahoy mateys! Petanque Club: Play at the Winterbourne Arms pub, mostly on Saturday afternoons, weather permitting, or by arrangement with Sarah 01980 619351. All ages are welcome – it’s good (gentle) exercise and can be very sociable…!
